This annual festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors, with over 75% of the public parade routes running through the AAHCD. The family-friendly festivities feature elaborate floats created by local artists and craftsmen, making this an unforgettable experience for all.

Held annually, this family-friendly film series offers a relaxed outdoor movie experience featuring a blow-up screen, food trucks, and blankets on the grass. This event, hosted by the Galveston Historical Foundation, provides fun for all ages.

Our indoor painting classes foster creativity and connection within a supportive space. These classes have been a staple for two years, drawing a diverse crowd with a focus on senior participants. Instructors guide students of all skill levels as they explore their artistic talents.

For over five years, the Urban Sketchers group has been capturing the essence of the district, culminating in a vibrant art showcase at ARToberFEST, in collaboration with the Downtown District and Visit Galveston. ARToberFEST offers attendees the opportunity to view our local artwork up close and meet the brilliant artists.

For over 40 years, The Bandshell at Menard Park has been a gathering place for African American cultural expression. This iconic venue hosts spoken word and comedy performances, with artists and collectives using the space to connect with the community. Performers self-promote and schedule their events, creating a lively atmosphere in this historic location.

The Old Central Cultural Center serves as a hub for cultural programming, including the Juneteenth Grant Series. The series, funded by the Park Board grant program, highlights the intersection of culture and activism in the district.
