About This Place

The Old Central Cultural Center is a historic Black cultural institution rooted in Galveston, Texas. Housed in the former Central High School – the first Black high school in Texas – it serves as a vibrant hub for African American heritage, education, and community programming. Through exhibitions, events, and cultural preservation, it honors the legacy and resilience of Black Texans.
